History

In the year 1976 Elder Marcel Miles was given a vision by the Lord to go to Houston , Texas. Although he had no job or acquaintances in the city, he and his wife, Delores heeded the call. He went as Abraham did when God told him to leave his kindred and family to go to a land he knew not about. He knew that God wanted him to do something in the city of Houston. After being in Houston for two years during which time he and his family were members at Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C., God had him start a church called Greater Faith. Yes, Greater Faith for it would be by faith that the church would be built. They began in his home at 8310 Sorrel Dr. which was the first home God blessed them to buy. There were three members, Pastor Miles, his wife Delores, and their son Joshua. The Lord added members and they were blessed to move to a building on Fairbanks N. Houston Road. There the Loughridges became members and the Lord continued to bless and add members. In order to save on expenses the church was relocated to a different building on Fairbanks N. Houston Road. There God truly did bless and souls were added including Deacon Williams. The messages recalled there were, "we're going to the other side". For when Jesus told the disciples they were going to the other side, although the storm and rains arose, they indeed made it to the other side. For when the Lord is the captain of the ship we are sure to make it. The Lord then blessed Greater Faith to move into our own building which we are in now. Although there are new member and others have come and gone, God continues to keep doing great things for us here at Greater Faith. For this we give him all Praise, Honor, and Glory.
